Information, Communication and Technology and how teachers can harness its benefits to enhance teaching and learning in the Pacific Islands.
Author : John Yakari Hagoiya
Abstract :Information, communication and technology has permeated most, if not all of society and what people do. From communication to teaching and learning, ICT has important roles to play. In some cases, society cannot do without it. This assumption is true for education, especially teaching and learning in schools. ICT can benefit education in ways never imagined before. And this is especially true for schools for developing countries. How can schools harness ICT? What barriers do they face in their endeavour to integrate ICT in the classrooms? These are critical questions that need to be addressed if the Pacific countries are to maximise ICT use in sectors such as business, communication and education. Schools play critical roles in expanding the use of ICT in its core business. The literature review analyses teacher-related challenges and barriers to provide insights into how developing countries can successfully integrate ICT in teaching and learning
