Integrating Digital Humanities in Postgraduate research in Arabic Studies

Abstract :The integration of Digital Humanities (DH) into postgraduate education offers transformative possibilities for advancing research methodologies in Arabic and Islamic Studies. This paper investigates how digital tools, computational approaches, and interactive platforms can enrich traditional modes of scholarly inquiry. By examining applications such as text mining, digital manuscript preservation, corpus-based linguistic analysis, and data visualization, the study highlights how DH fosters interdisciplinary exploration and critical engagement with classical and contemporary sources. In addition, the paper proposes a technology-enhanced learning (TEL) prototype designed specifically to support research methodology training in Arabic and Islamic Studies. The prototype integrates digital research environments, collaborative annotation tools, and multilingual data resources to cultivate students’ digital literacy and methodological innovation. Through this model, postgraduate learners can engage dynamically with digital archives, perform analytical tasks using accessible technologies, and develop competencies aligned with global scholarly practices. Ultimately, integrating Digital Humanities and TEL-based pedagogical design in postgraduate research training not only modernizes the learning experience but also redefines how knowledge is produced, analyzed, and shared within the broader field of Arabic and Islamic scholarship in the digital era.
