Author : Eugene Hakizimana, Dulce Maria Monroy Becerril Esteban Martinez Diaz Jorge Alejandro Silva de San Miguel Christian Muñoz Sanchez
Abstract : Operation excellence has been developed, embedding a management perspective of efficiency to achieve maximized value creation. Currently there is a conversion of this perspective towards sustainability development. However, this transition is still ambiguous in the research field. This chapter explores how this transition is taking place, bridging efficiency and creating impact in terms of enhancing achievement of four big environmental problems of efficient energy consumption, water resource consumption, and minimized waste, while maintaining productivity and cost-effectiveness. By using literature review in the context of exploratory research, the main findings show a strong relationship between Operational Excellence and sustainability development.
