Abstract : With the growing spread of English for Specific Purposes, universities throughout the Algerian cities are progressively offering varieties of branches and fields taught in English Language. Indeed, the Algerian ministry of higher education requires today its teachers to use English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) into their classrooms. Consequently, this new instruction has encouraged university teachers to change their mode of instruction and look for new canvas regarding the social and economic role which our universities are supposed to play. To warrant this transition, teachers are required to follow rigorous English courses to improve their proficiency. This paper examines the current state of ESP training for university students in Algeria, with particular focus on the use of EMI at Mascara University. Hereby, a new branch of teaching ESP has been established for two years which is named as English for Tourism. This new discipline requires an investigation through attitudes of teachers. Based on a quantitative method, the study also investigates Master level students’ attitudes regarding the lessons and programme they study in this discipline. The findings revealed that 50% of students enrolled in ESP for Tourism courses indicated their low satisfaction with the implemented programme. Though the f indings cannot be generalized, it includes a more research that instructors might find valuable.
