Abstract : Background: Depression is a common psychiatric disorder frequently associated with somatic symptoms including headache. Electroencephalography (EEG) has been used as a neurophysiological tool to evaluate cerebral electrical activity in psychiatric disorders. However, limited data exist regarding comparative EEG changes in depressed patients with and without headache. Aim: To compare EEG findings in patients of depression with headache and those without headache. Methodology: A comparative observational study will be conducted among patients diagnosed with depression according to standard psychiatric diagnostic criteria. Participants will be divided into two groups: depression with headache and depression without headache. Detailed clinical history, psychiatric evaluation, and EEG recordings will be obtained and analyzed for abnormalities including slowing, asymmetry, epileptiform discharges, and other electrophysiological changes. Conclusion: Comparative EEG assessment may help in understanding the association between headache and altered cerebral electrical activity in depression and may provide supportive evidence for better clinical evaluation and management.
