Autoimmune hepatitis presenting as acute on chronic liver disease

Abstract : Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory liver disease causing hepatocyte destruction in the absence of viral hepatitis. Classification: Type 1 (ANA+/ASMA+) | Type 2 (Anti-LKM1+) | Type 3 (Anti-SLA+) Overlap syndromes with PBC/PSC recognised. May present as acute, chronic, or as here as acute-on chronic liver disease with pre-existing cirrhosis.
